Scenario-based command training for company and chief officers
Training in Fireground Decision Making
10-Minute Training provides structured, scenario-based exercises designed to improve fireground decision making for firefighters, company officers, and chief officers.
Each training presents a realistic incident and requires participants to interpret conditions, select a strategy, and communicate an initial action plan under time pressure.
What 10-Minute Training Is
This training uses Tactical Decision Games (TDGs) to create focused, scenario-based exercises grounded in real-world incidents.
Each scenario requires participants to:
- Conduct an initial size-up
- Select a strategy
- Develop and communicate an action plan
Participants make decisions independently before discussion.
The “10-minute” component refers to the time available to complete the initial decision-making tasks. Participants review the scenario, complete the core questions within a limited time frame, and then engage in follow-up discussion and additional learning. Depending on how the training is used, the total time may extend beyond 10 minutes.
How to Use 10-Minute Training
This training is designed for immediate use.
It can be used:
- Individually to develop decision-making skills
