Command Competence, CFBT-US, LLC case studies provide an in-depth examination of emergency incidents that present a significant learning opportunity.
Learning from the Past
In The Purpose Driven Life: What on Earth Am I Here for?, Rick Warren writes “while it is wise to learn from experience, it is wiser to learn from the experiences of others”. Case studies provide an opportunity to learn from others experience. Examining significant emergency incidents provides an opportunity to recognize patterns, successes, and challenges that can inform your work as a firefighter or fire officer.
How are Case Studies Developed?
Development of an emergency incident case study is qualitative research that examines the incident and response using various data collection techniques like interviews, observations, and document analysis, to gain a detailed understanding of its complexities and dynamics. These case studies often integrate agency investigative reports, National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) reports, news reports, incident audio and video, as well as other data sources.
